The IRS has accepted electronic copies of paper records since 1997, under Rev. Proc. 97-22, provided the copy is legible, matches the original, can be printed on request, and is stored securely.
Which is the whole idea: a photograph taken the day you got the receipt doesn't fade. What any of it means for your return is a question for your tax preparer — CabSnap just makes sure the record still exists to talk about.
